The TOP business presentations from each of the participating districts came together last night at the ALC to compete in the Invest Nest statewide competition. Drum roll please ... One of very own, Allianna Walters, a student in Nebo School District's Teaching as a Profession program, has been selected as an Educators Rising National Officer for the 2025-2026 school year.  Allianna has been a part of the Teaching as a Profession program since her sophomore year at Spanish Fork High School.  She served as an Educators Rising Chapter Officer for Nebo School District's Educators Rising chapter during the 2023-2024 school year.  Allianna served as an Educators Rising State Officer for the state of Utah during the 2024-2025 school year.  She is looking forward to serving as an Educators Rising National Officer during the 2025-2026 school year.  Allianna will spend time traveling the country and advocating for students everywhere that are interested in pursuing a career in the field of education.  Allianna plans to pursue her career in the field of Special Education.  We wish her luck with this new opportunity.  Such an exciting accomplishment for this student, as she was selected out of thousands of students across the country! We had the pleasure of hosting and giving a tour of the ALC and the Nebo Career Center to a wonderful group of students from Salem Jr. High today! It is always such a privilege to showcase the incredible opportunities available at the Advanced Learning Center (ALC) to other schools in the Nebo School District. In our Anatomy and Physiology class, students had the unique opportunity to perform a lung pluck dissection, an engaging hands-on lab that brought the respiratory and circulatory systems to life. This dissection included the lungs, heart, diaphragm, and liver, allowing students to explore how these vital organs interact.

Career Programs Highlight-The Phlebotomy Program at Southwest Technical College prepares the student through coursework and practicum to become certified in the National Healthcare Association as a Phlebotomist. Coursework and practicums prepare you to acquire the knowledge and skills to collect blood and other specimens for hospitals, blood banks, and other health care facilities. With successful completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the Phlebotomy Technician Certification with the National Healthcare Association. Distinguished Guests Visit the ALC We were privileged and honored to host some distinguished guests today from the Candy Bomber Foundation - The Gail Halverson Legacy. Our esteemed visitors included: Lorene Moore - Operations Manager Mr. Jim Stewart - Executive Director General Mike Minihan - CEO/President of the Board of Directors. These notable individuals toured the Advanced Learning Center, and we were especially honored by the presence of General Minihan, who took the time to speak with several of our classes.
