This course covers the principles of automotive braking, including hydraulic theory, diagnosis, and service of brake systems. Students will study, discuss and/or complete hands-on labs in the following:

    • Troubleshooting

  • Tire construction (LABS)

    • Lateral and radial run-out and wheel balancing techniques

  • Hands-on brake systems

Basic Auto Collision 1  | High School Course - Full Year

This course is an introduction to non-structural repairs and various methods of refinishing and safety training. This course is based on the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) automotive collision task list and the I-CAR training program. Industry work ethic standards and productivity are an integral part of the classroom and laboratory activities of this program as determined in the Professional Development Program (PDP). This course prepares students to safely do the following:

  • Prepare, mask, prime, seal, and paint vehicles and parts

  • Use and maintain spray guns, booths, and equipment

  • Address paint defects

  • Mix, match, tint, and blend paint

  • Store and dispose of hazardous materials

  • Understand the corrosion protection process

  • Buff, and detail a refinished vehicle

  • Prepares individuals in the repair and refinishing of uni-bodies and fenders of automobiles

  • Custom painting and detailing for show cars

  • Various techniques and styles

  • Create professional finishes

  • Non-structural repair

  • Replacement

  • Adjustment of automotive outer body panels and uni-body components
