We were SO excited to welcome Rory Hansen, District Math Specialist, to our Teaching As A Profession class here at the ALC. Our future teachers had the opportunity to learn about how our brain learns math. Through a hands-on experience, Mr. Hansen showed us how, as teachers:
We have to help our students see there is NO such thing as "I am not a math person"
The first problem is not meant for mastering ... it is meant to start our thinking
We want our students to see themselves get better over time; to understand and see they can get better at math every single day
There is more to it than the answers ... it is about the thinking
